Acrylics
Acrylic resins are formed by the free-radical polymerization of acrylate or methacrylate monomers. They may be modified with other vinyl monomers such as styrene. Reichhold's acrylic resins are sold under the AROLON® and SYNTHEMUL® trade names.
Alkyds
Alkyd resins are the reaction product of an oil or fatty acid, polyol(s) and polyacids. These polymers are supplied in solvents and can cure by reaction with oxygen or amino based crosslinking resins to form tough, durable films. Reichhold's alkyds are sold under the BECKOSOL®, KELSOL® and AMBERLAC® trade names.
Epoxy Curing Agents
Reichhold offers a diverse line of high-performance Epotuf® epoxy curing agents in the following classifications: polyamides and amido-amines, cycloaliphatic amines, aliphatic amines, waterborne curing agents, and acid functional polyester resins.
Epoxy Esters
Epoxy ester resins are based on epoxy resins which have been esterified with a fatty acid. Generally, epoxy esters dry or cure by reaction with oxygen, similar to alkyd resins. Reichhold produces EPOTUF® epoxy esters for both solvent based and waterborne applications.
Epoxy Resins
Epoxy resins are thermosetting resins which are converted into infusible, insoluble solids by the use of curing agents. Epoxies offer the advantages of excellent adhesion, chemical resistance, corrosion protection, and good strength and toughness
Hybrids & Others
Hybrid resins are blends of two different types of resins to produce one product that exhibits characteristics of both.
Phenolics
Phenolic resins are produced by reacting phenol or substituted phenol with formaldehyde under either acidic or basic conditions. Those used in coatings are generally based on substituted phenols.
Polyurethanes
Reichhold's UROTUF® polyurethanes include oil modified, moisture cured, two-component and lacquer resins.
Powder Coating Resins
FINE-CLAD® acrylic and polyester powder resins are a key component of Reichhold’s OEM coating product portfolio. From GMA acrylic and acrylic hybrid technologies to superdurable and dual-component polyesters, product finishing is made easy with coatings based on Reichhold powder resins.
Saturated Polyesters
Saturated polyesters (also known as “oil-free alkyds” ) are made by reacting poly-functional acid and alcohol compounds to produce polyester resins which are usually reduced with organic solvents before use.
